The project focuses on enhancing graphene's properties through covalent functionalization, particularly using fluorographene. By exploring the chemistry of two-dimensional materials, it aims to develop stable graphene derivatives for applications in sensing, imaging, and catalysis.
The suite of graphene’s unique properties and applications can be enormously enhanced by its functionalization.
As non-covalently functionalized graphenes do not target all graphene’s properties and may suffer from limited stability, covalent functionalization represents a promising way for controlling graphene’s properties.
