This project aims to provide affordable communication services to underserved populations along the equator using a constellation of 200 nanosatellites. By leveraging advanced satellite technology, it seeks to bridge the digital divide for billions lacking basic voice and internet access.
Despite broad expansion of mobile networks, coverage gaps remain due to a lack of ICT infrastructure: 0.72bn people globally still lack access to basic voice and text services, with around 3.9bn (53% of the world’s population) lacking access to the internet at 3G speeds.
The majority of these uncovered populations are low income and live in rural regions of Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.
