This project focuses on improving wastewater treatment processes by developing a new multispecies biofilm model. It aims to enhance nutrient removal efficiency and resource recovery through advanced imaging and nanosensors to better understand the interactions between biofilms and organic matter in wastewater.
Wastewater treatment (WWT) processes that use biofilms as their biocatalyst have been in use for over 100 years.
