The ACCESS project investigates the external factors that hinder the growth of firms in developing countries, focusing on their access to labor, suppliers, and markets. By analyzing detailed microeconomic data, it aims to uncover the barriers to market access that affect economic development and job creation.
A huge challenge for research and policy efforts to accelerate economic development is that firms in poor countries grow surprisingly slowly, making job creation in the Global South difficult to achieve.
