The project aims to enhance the efficiency and lifespan of Proton Exchange Membrane fuel cells through advanced control systems. It focuses on developing innovative control models and integrating fuel cells into hybrid systems.
Despite current advances in PEM fuel cells based technologies, high costs, moderate reliability and reduced lifetime remain as major limitations.
For this reason, together with the continuous improvement of materials and components, the incorporation of advanced control systems embodies a major technological challenge to address, in order to achieve cost reduction, performance improvement and efficiency optimization of these promising power generation systems.
