The ACRITAS project enhances training in scanning probe microscopy (SPM) by bridging the gap between physical and life sciences. It aims to foster creativity and innovation among young researchers through hands-on experience and advanced techniques in SPM, addressing both extreme and biologically relevant conditions.
Scanning probe microscopy(SPM) has now evolved to the point where not only is imaging and manipulation with single atom resolution achievable but the state of the art in the field involves sub-molecular and sub-atomic resolution: individual chemical bonds can be resolved, their properties measured, and their spatial symmetry exploited.SPM is, however, increasingly a victim of its own success.
