The ACSEPT project focuses on developing advanced chemical processes for recycling actinides, aiming to reduce radioactive waste and enhance the sustainability of nuclear energy. It combines research on aqueous and pyrochemical methods with engineering studies to prepare for future pilot demonstrations.
Actinide recycling by separation and transmutation is considered worldwide and particularly in several European countries as one of the most promising strategies to reduce the inventory of radioactive waste, thus contributing to make nuclear energy sustainable.
