The project investigates the role of gut microbiota in Alzheimer’s disease, revealing that modulation of gut bacteria can influence disease progression. It aims to develop probiotic strategies for prevention and diagnosis of Alzheimer’s through gut health.
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the leading cause of dementia in the Western world and to date no cure nor any preventive strategy are available for this neurodegenerative disorder.
