The ALFF project aims to enhance algal aquaculture by understanding the interactions between algae and their associated microbes. It focuses on identifying beneficial and harmful microbial relationships to improve algal cultivation and biocontrol strategies in various environments.
Algal aquaculture is developing exponentially worldwide, with multiple applications in the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Current research in algal biotechnology mostly focuses on metabolite discovery, aquaculture yield improvement and engineering bottlenecks.
