The ALTERFOR project aims to develop improved forest management models that can adapt to the challenges posed by climate change and market dynamics. It focuses on enhancing the delivery of ecosystem services through innovative practices and cross-national knowledge sharing among stakeholders.
European forests are expected to provide a broad range of ecosystem services (ES).
This capacity is however threatened by the uncertainties of climate change, the complex dynamics of evolving global markets and the pressures for increased use of bioenergy.
