This project aims to improve the European beekeeping sector by developing standards for bee pollen and royal jelly. It addresses the challenges of declining bee populations and the need for quality control in bee products, ensuring authenticity and safety for consumers and producers.
The competitiveness of the European beekeeping sector is progressively falling due to the reduction of beekeepers’ production as a direct consequence of decrease in bee population, implying lower economies of scale, underutilised resources and higher relative production costs.
