This project investigates the mathematical properties of multidimensional shifts in symbolic dynamics. It aims to understand the automorphisms of these systems and their implications for multidimensional cellular automata.
Within the framework of Symbolic Dynamics, we propose to study the automorphisms of Multidimensional Shifts of Finite Type.We propose to explore certain algebraic invariants, analogous to the Dimension-Representation and the Gyration Numbers for automorphisms of one-dimensional Shifts of Finite Type.Our aim is to utilize the above invariants and confront certain natural problems related to these automorphisms:
