This project has developed a novel video compression method, ASC compression, tailored for space-based cameras. It aims to improve video transmission quality despite the harsh conditions of space, enhancing communication with celestial objects.
Camera located outside the protective environment of Earth's atmosphere and magnetic fields is exposed to the very harsh radiation.
Space based electronic components are produced in a different way, and much more expensive, than the ones built for use on our planet.
To make situation even worse, the processing power of radiation hardened microprocessors is much worse, than what we normally expect from the CPU.
