This project investigates the effects of gravity in extreme environments, such as near black holes and neutron stars, to test and potentially extend the current understanding of General Relativity. It aims to develop methods for detecting gravitational waves to explore strong-field effects in gravity.
Formulated by Einstein in 1916, General Relativity (GR) passed many stringent tests, and is now accepted as the standard theory of gravity and one of mankind's greatest achievements.
Nevertheless, most experiments can only probe the low-curvature regime, while the strong curvature regime remains essentially unexplored.
