The ATHENA project investigates the health benefits of dietary anthocyanins, compounds found in various foods, in preventing chronic diseases like cardiovascular issues and cancer. It aims to understand their mechanisms of action and the impact of food context on their efficacy.
Anthocyanins are health promoting dietary polyphenols that protect against cardiovascular disease, caner and obesity in preclinical studies with animals.
