The project develops ATHENA, an innovative electric thruster using electrospray technology for small satellites. This propulsion system aims to enhance operational flexibility, extend mission lifetimes, and address space debris through controlled maneuvers.
Small satellite manufacturers, integrators, and their clients have proven reluctant to incorporate on-board propulsion since it comes in conflict with the already stringent payload requirements.
