The DIvERGE project addresses the challenge of antibiotic resistance by providing a comprehensive tool to evaluate resistance mutations in antibiotic candidates. This technology aims to help pharmaceutical companies identify effective antimicrobial agents early in drug development, minimizing the risk of resistance.
The inappropriate use of antibiotics has rapidly accelerated antibiotic resistance evolution in pathogens, rendering several existing antibiotics ineffective.
However, many pharmaceutical companies have discontinued their antibiotic research programs.
