The BACI project aims to enhance the integration of space and ground-based observations to monitor ecosystem services. By utilizing advanced machine learning and remote sensing data, it seeks to develop essential biodiversity variables that reflect ecosystem health and functionality, particularly in Europe and Africa.
The alarming rate of biodiversity loss and ecosystem transitions make it clear that new strategies are required to sustain functioning of the coupled ecological-societal system.
