This project focuses on understanding the tumor microenvironment in breast and pancreatic cancers to identify new therapeutic targets. It aims to validate a novel treatment approach based on inhibiting a specific actin-binding protein correlated with poor patient prognosis.
Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer form and the leading cause of death among women while pancreatic cancer is the fourth commonest cause of cancer-related mortality across the world and very difficult to treat due to its aggressive nature and the relative lack of curative options.
