BIO2REG aims to facilitate the transition to a bioeconomy in regions heavily reliant on greenhouse gas-intensive industries. The project focuses on empowering local stakeholders to implement sustainable practices and develop model regions that integrate ecological, economic, and social dimensions.
Sustainable bioeconomy transition is an acknowledged pathfinder to achieve the Green Deal ambitions. A regionalised bioeconomy is seen as a promising leverage point for green growth.
Many European regions have already adopted bioeconomy strategies.
