The project develops a sustainable solution for the mushroom sector by creating a peat-free casing soil that supports beneficial bacteria to suppress harmful fungi and promote mushroom growth. This approach aims to significantly reduce pesticide use and enhance profitability while fostering job creation in rural areas.
The mushroom sector is an excellent example of circular economy to provide high quality protein from crop substrate based on bio-based agricultural wastes.
Productivity is however highly sensitive to several biotic disorders among which fungal parasites are responsible for major crop losses.
