The BeAware project explores how real-time energy consumption information can empower users to actively reduce their energy use. It aims to create a system that integrates feedback and support to encourage energy-saving behaviors.
Reduction of energy consumption is a societal challenge that requires combination of technical, economical, and social means.
So far, energy conservation has focused on new technologies and automation, treating users as passive consumers.
