The BORDERS project investigates how changes in borders affect local development in Europe and beyond over the last two centuries. It combines new theories, data, and methods to analyze the socio-economic impacts of border changes on communities.
Border changes through secession, unification, and territorial transfers have reshaped almost all states in Europe since 1815 and revisionism continues to threaten states worldwide until today.
