This project aims to enhance temperature reconstructions from tree-ring data to address discrepancies between historical climate records and climate model simulations. By establishing networks of quantitative wood anatomy data, it seeks to improve understanding of temperature changes in both hemispheres.
According to temperature reconstructions based on natural climate proxy archives (ice cores, lake sediments, tree rings etc.), Northern and Southern Hemisphere (NH, SH) temperature histories differ in important features over the past millennia.
