This project focuses on understanding the mechanisms behind breast cancer development linked to BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations. By utilizing advanced stem cell technologies and gene-editing techniques, it aims to create models that can lead to personalized treatment strategies and identify new biomarkers.
Inheriting one mutant copy of the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene is associated with a significant increased risk for developing aggressive and difficult to treat breast cancer, the most common cancer type in women worldwide.
