This project introduces CADISS, a novel surgical dissection system that combines mechanical force with a chemical agent to enhance tissue separation during surgeries. It aims to minimize damage to healthy tissues and reduce operation time, thereby improving patient safety and hospital efficiency.
Surgery is the art of dissecting tissues in order to repair, remove, or replace a diseased or damaged organ. 30% of the global burden of disease can be attributed to surgically treatable conditions.
More than 10% of surgical procedures involve critical dissection steps whereby the pathological tissue is carefully separated from the healthy surrounding tissues.
These procedures together have an incidence of 150/100.000 people, amounting for 2 million surgeries per year in developed countries.
