The CageComm project focuses on creating artificial molecular systems that mimic the dynamic behaviors of proteins. It aims to develop multicavity coordination cages capable of intra-cage communication, enabling them to respond to stimuli and perform complex functions similar to biological proteins.
Proteins, functioning as enzymes, receptors, nanomotors, and transporters, have inspired the creation of numerous artificial molecular systems and materials that mimic biological structures and behaviors.
However, replicating their dynamic behaviors and intra-protein communication pathways, which are responsible for allosteric interactions and signal transduction, remains a significant challenge.
