This project investigates the neurobiology of olfactory circuits in two species of fruit flies to understand how evolution shapes sensory behavior. By comparing the anatomy and function of their olfactory systems, the research aims to reveal the mechanisms behind species-specific responses to odors.
Animals have adapted to their ecological niche by developing unique behavioral strategies.
However, little is known about the underlying changes in neuronal circuit structure and/or function.
