This project explores the link between bacterial infections and atherosclerosis, a condition leading to heart attacks and strokes. By isolating and identifying bacteria in atherosclerotic tissue, the research aims to uncover new risk factors and therapeutic targets for cardiovascular disease.
The target for this project is a novel approach addressing the infectious component of atherosclerosis, a disease which leads to myocardial infarction and stroke.
