The project aims to create a multi-hazard Extreme Climate Index to assess climate risks in developing countries. This index will help in tracking extreme weather events and facilitate financial support for climate adaptation efforts.
Most of the developing countries are widely recognised to be vulnerable to climate risks.
Climate-related disasters are already undermining record growth across the world, threatening hard-won gains and vulnerable populations’ lives and livelihoods; increasing climate volatility can only exacerbate this and counteract the investments being made by countries to mitigate, prepare for and manage current weather risks.
