This project examines the influence of Catholicism on civil society mobilizations in Southern Europe, focusing on the Basque Country, Aquitaine, and Emilia-Romagna. It explores how religious actors engage in public debates and contribute to community-oriented dynamics despite the decline of institutional Catholicism.
This research project aims at contributing to the debate over religion and politics in the EU by considering the role played by Catholicism in shaping civil society mobilizations in Southern European regions.
