This project explores the Sonic Hedgehog protein's role in cancer development, particularly in breast, prostate, bowel, and lung cancers. It aims to clarify the mechanisms of this critical signaling pathway to inform the design of effective cancer therapies.
With 2,6 million new cases and 1,26 million deaths in 2012, cancer is the most important cause of death in the European Union (EU).
