This project aims to enhance understanding of congenital defects in the cerebellum and brainstem through a multidisciplinary approach. It combines clinical studies, genetic analysis, and functional studies to improve diagnosis and identify underlying mechanisms.
Cerebellar and brainstem congenital defects (CBCDs) are heterogeneous disorders with high pre-and post-natal mortality and morbidity.
Their genetic basis and pathogenetic mechanisms are largely unknown, hampering patients’ diagnosis and management and family counselling.
