The CD-HLAsens project aims to create a diagnostic platform for coeliac disease using electrochemical detection of genetic markers. By developing genosensors for HLA typing, it seeks to facilitate early diagnosis and improve screening methods for this gluten-sensitive condition.
Coeliac disease (CD) is a gluten-sensitive enteropathy that affects as much as 1% of the population.
Patients with CD should maintain a lifelong gluten-free diet, in order to avoid serious complications.
