This project investigates the mechanisms of cell-cell fusion, focusing on the EFF-1 protein in nematodes and its relationship to viral fusogens. By analyzing crystal structures and using light microscopy, the research aims to enhance understanding of fusion processes during fertilization and organ formation.
My group has made seminal contributions in the past toward understanding the mechanism of membrane fusion used by enveloped viruses to infect a cell.
