This project investigates the genetic factors that shape leaf form in plants, particularly comparing simple and compound leaves. By developing computational models informed by experimental data, it aims to elucidate the mechanisms of leaf development and self-organization in eukaryotic organisms.
Understanding how form emerges in living organisms is a fundamental challenge for biology.
Progress, however, has been confounded by the complex chain of interactions underlying the organization of macroscopic forms from molecular processes.
