This project focuses on assessing the health effects of diagnostic X-rays and high-dose techniques on children and adolescents, who are more sensitive to radiation. It aims to establish collaborative studies across Europe to evaluate radiation exposure and develop protocols for long-term health monitoring.
The growing use of diagnostic X-rays and of high-dose techniques (CT, interventions) in children and adolescents is a topic of concern in radiological protection.
Studies of other populations indicate that children are generally more sensitive to health effects of radiation than adults.
