This project focuses on developing new gold(I) catalysts by integrating ligand design and chiral counterions. The aim is to create efficient stereoselective catalysts for carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom coupling reactions, as well as enantioselective hydrogenations.
A novel approach in catalyst development will combine established principles of ligand design in asymmetric catalysis, the use of chiral counterions, as well as the metallophilic aggregation of Au(I) centres in oligonuclear gold complexes.
This is proposed to lead to new efficient stereoselective catalysts based in gold(I) which will be employed in C-C and C-X coupling reactions as well as enantioselective hydrogenations.
