The CHOPIN project focuses on developing durable hydrophobic coatings to reduce insect adhesion on aircraft wings, which can increase drag and fuel consumption. The project aims to optimize these coatings for micro-perforated surfaces and validate their effectiveness through various testing methods.
The aircraft industry has long been concerned with the increase of drag impacting directly the fuel consumption of airplanes.
