This project investigates the role of the ALC1 protein in DNA damage repair and chromatin remodeling. By generating mouse models, it aims to clarify ALC1's function in response to DNA damage and its implications for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
The genome is continuously exposed to DNA damaging insults that induce a wide variety of lesions.
For a proper DNA damage signalling and repair, chromatin remodelling is most likely a prerequisite.
