CITSCI aims to enhance citizen engagement in scientific research in Portugal by mobilizing researchers, science professionals, and local communities. The project focuses on raising awareness about the importance of science in daily life and encourages active participation, particularly among underrepresented groups.
The active participation of citizens in science related issues has significantly increased in the past decades and citizen science is top-priority in many institutions and governments across Europe.
Portugal, however, is still lagging a little behind.
