This project investigates the role of functional membrane microdomains in bacteria, which are crucial for maintaining protein stability without energy costs. By disrupting these microdomains, the project aims to combat multi-drug resistant bacterial infections and enhance the effectiveness of existing antibiotics.
Multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacterial infections threaten all the advances in modern medicine after the industry nearly abandoned antibiotic development and no mechanism to suppress antibiotic resistance has been found.
