The project focuses on preventing Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in Intensive Care Units using the Clarity RMS™ monitoring system. This system continuously tracks urine flow and composition, providing real-time alerts to medical staff to facilitate early intervention.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)-acquired Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is a prevalent and serious problem, associated with significantly increased morbidity and mortality.
According to the Global Burden of Disease (GBD), each year around 1.7 million people worldwide are estimated to die from AKI. AKI develops in over 57% of ICU patients, requiring an average of 3.5 additional hospital days and €13,000 of additional hospital costs per patient.
