CLOSE-SEARCH aims to integrate thermal sensors and advanced navigation systems into unmanned helicopters for search-and-rescue operations. The project focuses on enhancing safety and efficiency in locating missing persons in challenging environments.
The goal of CLOSE-SEARCH is to integrate in a small unmanned helicopter, a thermal sensor and a multisensor GPS-EGNOS-based navigation system with an Autonomous Integrity Monitoring capability, to support the search component of search-and-rescue (SAR) operations in remote, difficult-to-access areas and/or in time critical situations.
