This project examines the impact of Latin American artists who fled repressive regimes and settled in Europe during the late 20th century. It aims to reframe the narrative of Conceptual art by highlighting their contributions to both local and international art scenes.
My proposed project problematizes Conceptual art’s internationalism and its historicization with an innovative study on transnational artists who expatriated from Latin American repressive political regimes to Europe, establishing themselves in Belgium, England and the Netherlands between 1968-1979.
