This project explores how bipolar cells in zebrafish retina integrate signals from different cone photoreceptors to enable color vision. It employs genetic, anatomical, and physiological techniques to understand the development and functional wiring of these cells.
Colour vision is critical animals to navigate their environment.
Here, two or more spectrally distinct cone-photoreceptor types are needed in the retina which must be postsynaptically combined to extract contrasts in wavelength.
