This project aims to develop new chemical reactions using combinations of organocatalysts and transition metal catalysts. The focus is on creating asymmetric reactions that can efficiently produce chiral compounds, benefiting pharmaceutical synthesis and reducing waste.
During this Fellowship we wish to develop new and synthetically powerful cyclisation cascades using combinations of amine organocatalysts and transition metal catalysts.
Carefully chosen combinations of these catalysts should allow ketone functionality to be activated through conversion to a transient enamine intermediate that is then poised to attack the transition metal-activated alkyne or allene functionality.
