The CONGRESS project focuses on enhancing the representation of genetic biodiversity in policy frameworks. It aims to develop a user-friendly web portal and tools for conservation managers and policymakers to effectively incorporate genetic data into biodiversity management strategies.
Genetic biodiversity is recognised by the Convention on Biological Diversity and the EC Biodiversity Strategy as one of three essential elements of living diversity, yet it is poorly represented at the policy level, compared to the two other components, species and ecosystems.
