This project aims to enhance understanding of phytoplankton dynamics in coastal ecosystems by utilizing advanced technologies for continuous monitoring. It combines high-frequency data collection with statistical analysis to assess how environmental factors influence phytoplankton biodiversity and variability.
Phytoplankton dynamics are highly variable in coastal ecosystems because physical, chemical and biological influences are forced in complex ways.
Many important processes that influence coastal phytoplankton dynamics are episodic (e.g. hurricanes, storms and seiches).
