This research investigates the neural mechanisms underlying human consciousness by integrating neuroimaging techniques with pharmacological studies. It aims to identify brain activity patterns associated with consciousness and explore the role of specific neurotransmitter systems in facilitating conscious awareness.
For decades the cognitive neuroscience community has expended significant effort identifying system-level neural correlates of human consciousness, broad neural signatures that distinguish conscious from unconscious processes at the level of whole brain regions.
